Bio
A local product recruited from Richmond United, Clive Watson arrived at Punt Road following service with the R.A.A.F. during the Second World War. A lightly-built wingman, he managed four senior appearances in the latter stages of the 1948 season while his brother, Ron, plied his trade in the reserves. Unable to secure a regular spot in the Tigers' lineup, Watson crossed to the VFA in 1949 to join Oakleigh, where his career truly flourished. Playing under former Richmond hardman George Smeaton, Watson was an immediate success in the Association, winning the club's Best and Fairest in his debut season and playing a key role in their 1950 premiership side.
