Bio
Cody Walker is one of the most highly touted prospects in the 2026 draft pool and is widely rated as a potential top-three pick. The son of former 202-game Blue Andrew Walker, the Bendigo Pioneers inside midfielder is tied to Carlton as a father-son selection, with the club expected to match any early bids. Walker enjoyed a busy top-age campaign, representing Vic Country as co-captain at the National Championships and playing senior football for his hometown club Echuca, where he featured in a local premiership. He also gained valuable experience stepping up to the VFL with Carlton's reserves.
An ultra-competitive and hard-working onballer, Walker thrives in the contest and has shown his frame can already handle senior bodies. Scouts have praised his prolific ball-winning ability and explosive speed to cut through congestion, though his kicking accuracy has been noted as an area for further development. The highly sought-after prospect capped off his year with an impressive showing at the national draft combine, recording a top-three finish in the 2km time trial with a time of 6:04. Walker is expected to draw a bid at the very top of the draft order.
