Family

Recruited from VFA club Coburg, Colin Martyn arrived at Princes Park in 1928 and immediately established himself as a fixture in the Carlton midfield. Predominantly playing as a centreman, Martyn was renowned for his discipline and positional play rather than his attacking flair, a trait underscored by a career tally of just two goals from 85 games. He acted as a reliable pivot who prioritised distribution and defensive accountability, allowing more attacking teammates to flourish around him. His five-year tenure coincided with a consistent period for the Blues, with Martyn featuring in multiple finals campaigns as a regular starter. He was later joined at the club by his younger brother Aubrey, and retired at the end of the 1932 season as a highly respected, serviceable contributor to the Carlton engine room.
