Family

Recruited from the Olympic Youth Club in Preston, Craig Braddy overcame significant physical hurdles to forge a VFL career, notably playing with two missing fingers on his left hand and—unknown to him at the time—only one kidney. After struggling to break into Fitzroy's senior side, the key forward was sold to the Sydney Swans as part of their initial squad during the chaotic relocation of 1982. Braddy flourished with the increased opportunity in the Harbour City, utilizing his aerial strength and accurate boot to become a focal point of the attack, highlighted by his 48-goal season in 1983 to top the club's goalkicking. A rare bright spot during the Swans' difficult establishment years, he eventually moved to the SANFL to play for Central District after a four-season stint in Sydney.
