Bio
A journeyman ruckman whose career is a testament to perseverance, Darcy Fort traveled a long road through state leagues before etching his name into Brisbane folklore. Drafted as a mature-age recruit by Geelong after impressive stints in the SANFL and VFL, the former civil engineer found opportunities scarce behind established stars at the Cattery. He requested a trade to Brisbane in search of regular game time but largely served as a reliable depth option behind Oscar McInerney, valued for his contest work, strong marking hands, and ability to drift forward and hit the scoreboard. His dedication was vindicated in spectacular style in 2024 when a preliminary final injury to McInerney saw Fort recalled for the Grand Final after spending most of the season in the reserves. Tasked with nullifying the opposition ruck on the biggest stage of all, he played his role to perfection, helping the Lions secure the premiership and transforming from a fringe player into an unlikely flag hero.
