Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons with pick five in the 2015 National Draft, Darcy Parish arrived at Essendon with high expectations as a polished midfielder capable of making an immediate impact. Although he earned a Rising Star nomination in his debut season, his early years at Tullamarine were defined by a struggle to cement a permanent role in the engine room. Often deployed across half-forward or on a wing, Parish showed glimpses of class without consistently dominating games, leading to significant external debate regarding his best position and utilisation.
His career trajectory shifted dramatically during the 2021 season when he was unleashed as a full-time inside midfielder. Parish rapidly evolved into one of the competition's premier ball-winners, renowned for his clean hands in traffic and elite clearance work. This move to the centre square saw him earn his maiden All-Australian blazer and the Anzac Day Medal in a breakout campaign that redefined his standing in the game. Having committed his long-term future to the Bombers following periods of contract speculation, Parish remains a critical cog in Essendon's midfield setup, providing senior leadership and consistent contested possession winning ability.
