Bio
Recruited from Noble Park, Dennis "Bluey" McGrath was a towering ruckman who stood 193cm, a formidable height for the mid-1960s. He debuted for North Melbourne as an 18-year-old, using his size to compete in ruck battles during a four-year stint at Arden Street. Following his departure from the VFL after the 1968 season, McGrath carved out a distinguished career in the VFA with Oakleigh and later became a playing-coach legend at Ferntree Gully, where he continued performing at a high level well into the 1980s. His footballing DNA lived on through his son, Tim McGrath, who played over 200 games as a dependable defender for North Melbourne and Geelong.
