Bio
Recruited from nearby Winchelsea following a stint at The Geelong College, Don Worland was a powerfully built utility who arrived at Kardinia Park during the club's most dominant era. Standing 189cm and weighing 96kg—a massive frame for the early 1950s—he utilised his background in schoolboy boxing to provide a rugged physical presence in the contest. Worland faced the enviable but difficult challenge of squeezing into a lineup that had secured back-to-back premierships in 1951 and 1952, managing to break into the senior side for four games during the Cats' famous record-breaking winning streak. Unable to permanently displace the established stars of the "Invincibles" squad, he eventually returned to the country leagues to become a Winchelsea legend, playing in three premierships and serving the club as an administrator for decades.
