Bio
Recruited from Edenhope in the Wimmera district, Edward "Ted" Cranage was a tall utility who briefly featured for St Kilda during the early years of the Second World War. Standing 187cm, he possessed the physical attributes of a key position player but found opportunities limited in a Saints side that endured a difficult winless streak throughout most of the year. He made just four senior appearances in the 1940 season, debuting in Round 9 against Melbourne, before his time at the Junction Oval came to a close. Like many contemporaries, his football ambitions were effectively curtailed by the global conflict, with Cranage enlisting for military service shortly after his brief stint at the elite level.
