Bio
Recruited from the small town of Carlsruhe, Edgar Dunbar arrived at Melbourne in 1922 as part of a unique family influx, debuting in the same season as his brothers Hugh and Harold. While his brother Hugh became a long-serving defender for the club, Edgar was a serviceable utility who played his football in two distinct stints. He featured prominently in his debut season before missing the entire 1923 campaign, eventually returning to play a full season in 1924. His form during that final year was solid enough to earn him selection for a VFL representative side against the Bendigo League, highlighting his capabilities as a reliable senior footballer. Dunbar retired from the VFL at the end of that season, and although he later attempted a comeback during an injury crisis and sought a clearance to Ballarat, he did not add to his 28 senior games.
