Bio
Recruited from Carlsruhe in the Macedon Ranges, Harold Dunbar secured a unique place in league history as one of three brothers to make their VFL debut for Melbourne in the same match. Running out alongside siblings Hugh and Edgar in Round 1, 1922, the 191cm recruit was a giant for his era, providing the Demons with a formidable physical presence in the ruck and key posts. Unlike his brother Hugh, who carved out a sustained career with the club, Harold's time at the top level was fleeting; he managed just five senior appearances and two goals in the opening weeks of the season before drifting out of the side. He eventually returned to country football with Kyneton, remembered less for his specific on-field exploits and more for his role in a rare family milestone.
