Bio
Born in Prague during World War II, Eric Vinar arrived in Australia as a child refugee and settled in Geelong, where his brother Paul would later become a premiership player for the Cats. Recruited from North Ballarat rather than the local Geelong leagues, Eric signed with Fitzroy for the 1964 season, stepping into one of the most challenging environments in VFL history. He featured as a utility in eight matches during the Lions' disastrous winless campaign, the only season the club failed to register a victory in its entire existence. Vinar booted three goals in his brief stint at the top level before departing the VFL scene, eventually relocating to Tasmania later in life.
