Originally hailing from the small central Victorian town of Pyalong, Frank Griffin arrived at the Junction Oval via Caulfield. He made his VFL debut late in the 1909 season against Carlton, earning a brief opportunity in a St Kilda lineup that was battling near the bottom of the ladder. Griffin did enough to earn a reprieve for the following season, making his second and final senior appearance in Round 2, 1910 against Fitzroy. Unable to cement a permanent spot in a struggling side that would go on to claim the wooden spoon, his league career ended after just two games, with Griffin eventually returning to country Victoria where he settled in Wangaratta.
