Bio
Arriving at South Melbourne from South Warrnambool, Frank Primmer was a highly touted country recruit whose transition to the VFL in 1955 was preceded by a well-publicised hesitation regarding his clearance. A star centre half-forward in the Hampden League, he was a lightly built key position prospect at 184cm and 73kg, relying on athleticism rather than brute strength. He broke into the senior side midway through the 1955 season but found it difficult to impose himself in a struggling Bloods lineup that finished near the bottom of the ladder throughout his tenure. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the forward half, Primmer played 25 games over three seasons before his VFL career concluded at the end of 1957, eventually returning to his status as a notable figure in Western District football.
