Bio
Born into a footballing dynasty as the son of Essendon VFA premiership captain Alick Dick, Fred Dick arrived at Melbourne via Hampton and the St Kilda seconds. He broke into the senior side as a wingman during the Redlegs' powerhouse 1926 campaign, a season that culminated in the club winning the premiership. However, the sheer strength of the Melbourne lineup limited his opportunities, and he struggled to hold his place in the star-studded midfield. After managing just six games across two seasons, he was unable to cement a regular spot and departed the VFL to continue his career in the Association.
