Bio

1 revision

Drafted by Sydney from North Adelaide with pick 32 in the 2013 National Draft, George Hewett spent two years developing in the reserves before breaking into the senior side in 2016. He immediately became a fixture in the Swans' lineup, playing 24 games in his debut season, including the Grand Final loss to the Western Bulldogs. During his tenure in the harbour city, Hewett established himself as a disciplined run-with player, frequently tasked with nullifying the opposition's most dangerous midfielder while adding a hard edge to the contest.

At the end of 2021, Hewett exercised his rights as a restricted free agent to join Carlton, a move that saw him evolve from a defensive specialist into a prolific ball-winning inside midfielder. His arrival at Princes Park added crucial support to the Blues' engine room, where his clean hands in traffic and ability to extract the ball from stoppages complemented the flair of teammates like Patrick Cripps and Sam Walsh. A consistent and understated performer who prioritises team structure over individual accolades, Hewett has cemented his status as a vital senior figure at Carlton, recently surpassing the 200-game milestone.
