Born and bred in the club's heartland, Harry Collins was a homegrown talent who graduated from the Fitzroy Juniors to join his brother Goldie at the Brunswick Street Oval. A depth player who struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side, he made fleeting appearances across the 1912 and 1915 seasons without registering a goal. His football journey was ultimately cut short by the Great War, where he traded his maroon and blue guernsey for military service on the Western Front. Collins rose to the rank of Lieutenant and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for conspicuous gallantry, but was tragically killed in action at Villers-Bretonneux just months before the armistice. He remains a revered figure in Fitzroy history, honoured less for his on-field statistics and more as one of the club's fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
