Stats
Bio
Recruited from Sale after winning the Gippsland League's highest individual honour, Hec Davidson was a talented rover who ultimately found himself caught between levels at the VFL level. While he managed 20 senior games for Melbourne, Davidson became a dominant force in the club's seconds, proving to be arguably the premier reserves footballer of the early 1930s. He played in back-to-back Seconds premierships and achieved the rare feat of winning the Gardiner Medal—the league's reserves Best and Fairest—twice (in 1932 and 1933), while also finishing runner-up in 1931 and 1934. Unable to permanently cement a spot in the senior 18 despite his dominance in the lower grade, he eventually transferred to VFA club Camberwell in the mid-1930s.
