Bio
Jack Heal was a West Australian footballer whose brief VFL tenure was shaped by the exigencies of the Second World War. Originally from Kalgoorlie and a product of the West Perth Football Club, Heal arrived at Melbourne while stationed in Victoria on Royal Australian Navy service, joining a transient group of interstate players filling the ranks during the conflict. Standing 183cm, he was a taller utility player for the era and made three consecutive appearances in the middle of the 1942 season, booting a solitary goal during his short stint in the red and blue. While his time in the VFL was limited to a wartime cameo before returning to the WAFL, he is also noted as the brother of West Perth legend and Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee Stan Heal.
