Bio
Jack Nelson is a versatile general defender and midfielder who came through the Sturt pathway in the SANFL, having played his community football for Glenunga. The son of former Adelaide and Carlton defender Ben Nelson, he started his 2026 draft year in strong form in the AAMI Talent League. His early performances included a standout display against Woodville-West Torrens in Round 2 where he repeatedly drove his team forward. Nelson earned selection for South Australia at the National Championships, though groin soreness restricted him to two appearances at the carnival.
At 186cm, Nelson uses his size to his advantage at the coalface and provides a calm head in the contest. Scouts have praised his clean hands in traffic, slick distribution and strong work rate around the ground. He is also noted for his ability to stay upright through tackles and collect ground balls at speed. Attracting interest from club recruiters, Nelson earned an invitation to the state draft combine in Adelaide. While his ongoing recovery from groin soreness prevented him from participating in physical testing, he remains in the mix as a potential prospect later in the draft.
