Bio
Arriving at North Melbourne with a premiership pedigree, Jim Heenan was recruited from Northcote after featuring in their 1929 VFA flag-winning side. His brief tenure in the VFL was defined by a physical style of play that ultimately cut his season short; in just his seventh game, he was reported for striking Richmond's Bert Foster with an elbow and handed a severe eight-week suspension. Heenan returned to the senior side for the final round of the 1930 season but did not play VFL football again, eventually continuing his career with the Sunshine Football Club. His family legacy remained strong in the league, however, with his son, Jim Heenan Jr, going on to play 82 games for Essendon during the 1950s.
