Bio
Recruited from the North Melbourne seconds, Jim Toohey carried a notable sporting pedigree as the son of the former North Melbourne player and champion wrestler of the same name. He arrived at Brunswick Street in 1935 and was deployed primarily as a forward, where he proved a capable finisher with 32 goals across his 35 senior appearances. Despite maintaining a respectable strike rate near the sticks, Toohey struggled to cement a permanent position in the Maroons' lineup over his four seasons at the club. His time at the top level concluded after the 1938 season, marking him as a serviceable fringe player for Fitzroy during the pre-war era.
