Stats
Bio
Recruited from the local Footscray district, Joe McGhie was a defensive-minded player who progressed through the club's lower grades to make his senior debut as a teenager. He featured sporadically in the Bulldogs' backline across two seasons but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior side, failing to register a goal during his brief VFL career. Following his departure from the Western Oval, he crossed to the VFA to play for Brunswick, establishing a family link with the club that would later see his twin brothers, Warren and Steven, and his famous younger brother, Richmond premiership star Robbie McGhie, all don the black and white magpie guernsey.
