Bio
Recruited from Heidelberg, John Christou was a back pocket defender who joined his brother Jim at Fitzroy during the mid-1970s. He made his senior debut in 1975 but found opportunities scarce at the Junction Oval, managing sporadic appearances over three seasons as he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Lions' defensive rotation. After leaving the VFL with seven games to his name, Christou carved out a significant legacy in the VFA, where he became a premiership player with both Port Melbourne and Northcote.
