Stats
Bio
Standing at an imposing 191cm, John Currie was a towering ruckman and key position prospect who followed his older brother Max to Punt Road. A product of Melbourne High School and local junior football, he served a dedicated apprenticeship in the reserves, accumulating 50 games for the seconds before finally earning his senior debut midway through the 1952 season. Despite his significant height advantage for the era, his top-level career was brief, restricted to just three senior appearances in yellow and black before he departed the VFL to become a long-serving player and coach for Brighton in the Association.
