Bio
Recruited from Subiaco in the WAFL, John Georgiades is best remembered for producing one of the most explosive debuts in VFL/AFL history. A skilled forward with a natural eye for goal, he made an immediate impact by booting eight goals in his first senior match against Carlton at Princes Park in Round 1, 1989. Despite this blistering start, Georgiades struggled to replicate his debut form consistently at the elite level, playing just 15 games over three seasons at the Western Oval before his career wound down. He eventually returned to Western Australia to continue his career with Subiaco, but his football legacy has continued in the modern era through his son, Mitch Georgiades, who plays for Port Adelaide.
