Bio
Recruited from Old Launcestonians in Tasmania, John Hamilton was a half-forward who managed a brief senior stint with Melbourne during the 1966 season. He broke into the side for his debut in Round 8 against Footscray and held his spot for the following week's clash with North Melbourne, but persistent knee injuries ultimately curtailed his progress at the top level. Wearing the number 42 guernsey, he played just those two games before departing the VFL scene, though he remained a dedicated figure at the club as a Coterie member until his passing in 2007. His younger brother, Peter Hamilton, later played 52 games for the Demons between 1976 and 1983.
