Bio
Recruited from Ulverstone in Tasmania, Peter Hamilton was a versatile tall who spent eight seasons at Melbourne as a reliable depth player rather than a permanent fixture in the senior side. After announcing his potential with a best-on-ground performance in the Demons' 1975 Under-19s premiership victory, the 194cm utility drifted between the ruck and key defensive posts without ever quite making a position his own. He battled for selection throughout his career, never managing more than 13 games in a single season, though his form in 1979 was impressive enough to earn a State of Origin guernsey for Tasmania. A loyal servant during a difficult era for the club, Hamilton eventually departed the VFL to play in the country and later the VFA, where he won a premiership with Prahran.
