Bio
Recruited from Coleraine in country Victoria, John Vickery was a half-forward flanker who arrived at Victoria Park in the early 1970s. Standing 184cm, he made his senior debut in Round 9, 1971, but struggled to cement a regular spot in a strong Collingwood lineup that was regularly contending for finals. While his senior VFL career was limited to just four appearances across two seasons, Vickery remained a persistent contributor at the club, playing 32 reserves games and kicking 44 goals before departing after the 1975 season. In modern football circles, he is best recognised as the father of Tyrone "Ty" Vickery, who played over 100 games for Richmond and Hawthorn.
