Bio
Drafted by Greater Western Sydney with the second overall pick in 2013, Josh Kelly arrived with strong football bloodlines as the son of former North Melbourne rover Phil Kelly. A product of the Sandringham Dragons, he immediately showcased the elite aerobic capacity and poise that would define his career. A graceful left-footer, Kelly evolved into one of the competition's most complete midfielders, balancing high-possession accumulation with a genuine goal-kicking threat and relentless two-way running. His ability to deliver the ball inside 50 with precision made him a critical asset during the Giants' era of contention, playing a pivotal role in their maiden Grand Final appearance in 2019.
Despite perpetual speculation linking him to lucrative moves back to Victoria, particularly to his father's former club, Kelly remained a loyal servant of the Giants. This commitment cemented his legacy in western Sydney, underscored by two Kevin Sheedy Medals as club champion and All-Australian honours in 2017. He assumed the co-captaincy in 2022, leading the side during a transitional phase before returning to the ranks to focus on his on-field impact. Now a veteran of the club, Kelly remains a vital component of the GWS engine room, providing experience and class to complement the playing list's developing talent.
