Bio
Arriving at North Melbourne with a formidable reputation, Phil Kelly was a marquee recruit from East Perth where he had already established himself as a premier midfielder by claiming back-to-back Sandover Medals. A classy and skillful rover known for his poise in traffic, Kelly possessed the ability to win his own ball and drift forward to hit the scoreboard. However, his highly anticipated VFL career was frequently interrupted by persistent soft tissue injuries, which prevented him from consistently reaching the heights of his dominance in the west. While he managed five seasons at Arden Street, he is perhaps best recognized by modern audiences as the father of GWS Giants star Josh Kelly.
