Recruited from East Fremantle with pick 7 in the 1998 National Draft, Joshua Carr established himself as one of the era's most combative and effective midfielders. A key component of Port Adelaide's maiden premiership side in 2004, Carr was renowned for his physical approach, two-way running, and ability to get under the skin of opposition stars while simultaneously winning his own contested ball. His on-field persona was defined by a ruthless competitive streak, often seeing him tasked with nullifying the opposition's most dangerous playmakers in high-stakes encounters.

Following the 2004 flag, Carr requested a trade home to Western Australia to fulfil a lifelong dream of playing alongside his brother, Matthew, at Fremantle. He spent four seasons at the Dockers, serving as vice-captain and cementing his status as a hard-nosed clearance player before returning to Port Adelaide in 2009 to finish his playing career where it began. Post-retirement, Carr transitioned into a highly respected coaching career, holding senior assistant roles at multiple clubs and remaining a significant figure in the football landscape.
