Bio
Recruited as a mature-age wildcard from Halls Creek via a winding path through country Victoria and Adelaide amateur football, Jy Farrar became a story of persistence for the Gold Coast Suns after being selected with pick 60 in the 2019 National Draft. The athletic utility—cousin to Shane McAdam—initially established himself as an intercepting defender, utilising his significant vertical leap and closing speed to play on opponents of varying sizes. While often finding himself on the fringe of the best 22, Farrar reinvigorated his career by swinging forward, where his defensive pressure and aerial capacity added a dynamic edge to the Suns' attack and boosted his goal tally. His ability to adapt between defensive assignments and a goal-kicking forward role allowed him to earn multiple contract extensions, maintaining a place on the list as a resilient, versatile depth player well into his career.
