Bio
Recruited from Launceston with pick 5 in the 2013 National Draft, Kade Kolodjashnij arrived at the Gold Coast Suns as a highly touted prospect while his twin brother Jake was selected by Geelong. He made an immediate impression as a sophisticated rebounding defender, utilising his elite endurance and precise left foot to finish runner-up in the club champion award in just his second season. Despite his promising trajectory as a key pillar in the Suns' backline, his time in Queensland was severely hampered by recurring concussion symptoms and neck injuries which restricted his continuity. Seeking a change of fortune and environment, he was traded to Melbourne following the 2018 season, but his time at the Demons was unfortunately brief. Unable to shake the lingering effects of head trauma, Kolodjashnij managed just two games in red and blue before being forced into medical retirement at the end of 2020, bringing a premature end to the career of a naturally gifted ball-winner.
