Bio
Recruited from the Sandringham Dragons with pick 68 in the 2013 National Draft, Karl Amon overcame a slow start to his career to become one of the competition's most effective wingmen. Possessing a lethal left boot and elite endurance, he spent his early years at Port Adelaide on the fringe of selection, famously requesting a trade in 2018 in search of greater opportunity. When a move failed to eventuate, Amon returned to Alberton and transformed his game, cementing his spot as a damaging outside runner and earning selection in the 2021 All-Australian squad. His ability to break lines and deliver the ball inside 50 became a critical weapon for the Power during their finals campaigns.
Seeking a return to Victoria at the end of 2022, Amon joined Hawthorn as a free agent, bringing crucial experience to a rebuilding squad. His transition to the Hawks saw him maintain his high standards, alternating between his customary wing role and a quarterback role across half-back. As a senior figure in a young team, his composure and precise ball use have remained integral, offering stability and offensive drive as the club climbed back into contention. Now a seasoned veteran approaching the 200-game milestone, Amon remains a key distributor capable of hurting opposition defences with his run-and-carry.
