Arriving at Punt Road from Maryborough after earlier stints with Bristol Hill Juniors and the Ballarat Seconds, Kevin Coppock was a six-foot recruit who broke into the Richmond side early in the 1953 season. He made his senior debut as a reserve against Melbourne in the opening round before earning a place in the starting eighteen for the clash against St Kilda three weeks later. Unfortunately, his time at the top level was cut short almost as soon as it began, with injury forcing him into premature retirement after just two senior appearances and a pair of reserves matches. Coppock later maintained his connection to the sport by officiating as an umpire in the junior leagues.
