Bio
Arriving at Glenferrie Oval from Hawthorn CYMS, Kevin Pirrie belonged to a significant footballing family, being the son of former VFL player Richard Pirrie and the younger brother of Hawthorn teammate Dick Pirrie. Standing 183cm, he was a solid key position utility who broke into the senior side in 1941, managing six games before his career was abruptly halted by World War II. While he served as a Gunner in the Australian Army, the family suffered a tragic loss when his brother Dick was killed in action during the D-Day landings in Normandy. Kevin eventually returned to the club in 1946 to add four more appearances to his tally, closing out a brief tenure that serves as a poignant reminder of the heavy toll the war exacted on the playing lists of the era.
