Bio
Recruited from VFA powerhouse Dandenong, Kevin Shinners made an immediate impact at Richmond in 1967, quickly establishing himself as a tenacious back pocket in Tom Hafey's lineup. Known for his close-checking defensive style and ability to support captain Fred Swift in the last line of defence, he played 18 games in his debut year, culminating in the historic 1967 Premiership victory over Geelong. Despite this rapid ascent, Shinners found senior opportunities difficult to sustain in his second season, adding just five games in 1968 before departing the VFL to return to Dandenong. While his career at the top level was brief, he remains a celebrated figure at Punt Road as a member of the side that broke the Tigers' 24-year premiership drought.
