Bio
Recruited from West Adelaide, Kieran Sporn arrived at Essendon as a mature-age recruit and quickly established himself as a classy left-footed utility capable of playing on the wing or across half-forward. Part of a talented sporting family that includes brother Matthew and Opals basketball legend Rachael, Sporn became a regular fixture in Kevin Sheedy's lineup, notably featuring in the 1990 Grand Final loss to Collingwood. Despite a solid tenure at Windy Hill, he famously missed out on the 1993 Premiership success; after playing 12 games that season, injury and the rapid emergence of the "Baby Bombers" saw him lose his place in the senior side prior to the finals series. He was traded to Fitzroy for the 1994 season to add experience to the struggling club's list, but chronic knee issues restricted him to a single season with the Lions before forcing his retirement.
