Bio
Recruited to Carlton as a father-son selection in the 2004 National Draft, Luke Blackwell followed in the footsteps of his premiership-winning father, Wayne. The West Australian was a prolific ball-winning midfielder known for his sharp decision-making and ability to extract possession from stoppages. Despite his pedigree and distinct ability to find the football, Blackwell struggled to command a permanent spot in the senior side during a turbulent rebuilding phase for the Blues, often competing for minutes against a flux of incoming top-tier draft picks. He managed 23 games across four seasons before being delisted at the end of 2008, eventually returning to the WAFL where he forged a decorated state-league career with Claremont.
