Bio
The son of Collingwood legend Billy Picken, Marcus Picken was selected by Brisbane with pick 58 in the 1997 National Draft but found it difficult to crack a senior lineup on the verge of a historic premiership dynasty. A small forward capable of pushing into the midfield, he played a peripheral role during his four seasons at the Gabba, notably featuring in the club's 2001 reserves premiership side while finding his path to the seniors blocked by an elite playing list. Seeking greater opportunities, Picken crossed to the Western Bulldogs for the 2002 season, where he managed to play the bulk of his career football. However, persistent hamstring injuries and inconsistent form prevented him from cementing a long-term spot, leading to his delisting at the end of 2003, years before his younger brother Liam would establish himself as a premiership hero at the Whitten Oval.
