Bio
Recruited by Essendon with the third pick in the 2022 Mid-Season Draft, Massimo D'Ambrosio arrived from the Western Jets with a reputation for elite ball use. Although he displayed flashes of potential during his brief stint at the Bombers, he found himself on the fringe of selection and requested a trade to Hawthorn following the 2023 season to secure greater playing time. The switch revitalised his career, as he seamlessly slotted into the Hawks' lineup and established himself as a damaging weapon on the wing and half-back flank. Renowned for his piercing left-foot kick and composure under pressure, D'Ambrosio has developed into a key architect of Hawthorn's transition play, responsible for breaking lines and generating drive from the back half.
