Bio
Matt Crouch arrived at West Lakes via pick 23 in the 2013 National Draft, joining his older brother Brad to establish a prolific midfield partnership. A pure inside midfielder with an elite capacity to accumulate possessions, Crouch became the engine of the Crows' midfield during their premiership contention window. His individual campaign peaked in 2017, where his relentless ball-winning ability saw him named All-Australian and crowned the Malcolm Blight Medallist in a Grand Final year. Renowned for his clean hands in traffic and vision at the stoppage, he built a reputation as one of the league's most consistent clearance winners, rarely finishing a match without high disposal numbers.
However, Crouch's career faced uncertainty during Adelaide's aggressive rebuild under Matthew Nicks. Often scrutinised for his disposal impact relative to his volume, he fell out of favour and spent significant periods in the SANFL, with his future at the club appearing tenuous. Despite external trade speculation, Crouch remained in South Australia and forced his way back into the senior lineup through sheer weight of performance and improved defensive accountability. He has since re-established himself as a vital experienced head amongst a developing midfield group, transitioning from a standalone star to a hardened contest specialist who provides composure and protection for his younger teammates.
