Bio
Selected with pick 20 in the 2010 National Draft, Mitch Hallahan arrived at Hawthorn as a tough inside midfielder with a strong pedigree, being the son of former Fitzroy and Melbourne player Mike Hallahan. Despite dominating at state league level—highlighted by his joint 2013 J.J. Liston Trophy win with Box Hill—Hallahan found opportunities scarce in the seniors, stuck behind a legendary premiership-winning engine room featuring Sam Mitchell, Jordan Lewis, and Luke Hodge. A pure contested ball-winner known for his clearance work and physical edge, he requested a trade to the Gold Coast Suns at the end of 2014 in search of regular senior football. Although he managed a handful of appearances in Queensland, injuries and inconsistent form prevented him from cementing a spot in the best 22, and he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season as a player who could not quite translate his prolific VFL dominance to the top flight.
