Bio
Selected with pick 76 in the 2016 National Draft, Mitch Lewis initially drew attention for the ironic coincidence of his name, which combined those of departed club champions Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis. The key forward eventually moved past the novelty to establish himself as the structural centrepiece of Hawthorn's attack in the post-Jarryd Roughead era, utilizing his imposing frame and contested marking ability to provide a consistent target inside 50. While he demonstrated elite scoring potential during a breakout 2022 campaign, Lewis's career has been heavily disrupted by persistent knee and soft tissue injuries that have prevented him from stringing together full seasons. Despite these setbacks limiting his total appearances, he remains a vital component of the Hawks' spine when available, offering a reliable avenue to goal and creating space for the club's smaller forwards.
