Bio
Arriving at Whitten Oval as a father-son selection in the 2010 National Draft, Mitch Wallis quickly established himself as a hard-edged inside midfielder capable of performing disciplined tagging roles. The son of former captain Steve Wallis, he became a core component of the Bulldogs' engine room during the club's rise under Luke Beveridge. However, his tenure is often viewed through a lens of misfortune; despite playing a pivotal role throughout the 2016 campaign, a horrific broken leg suffered late in the season forced him to watch from the sidelines as the club broke its 62-year premiership drought.
Displaying immense resilience, Wallis returned to the field and evolved into a significant leader, eventually serving as the club's vice-captain. With the Bulldogs' midfield rotation becoming increasingly squeezed by star talent, he successfully reinvented himself as a defensive forward with strong marking ability, notably topping the club's goalkicking tally during the shortened 2020 season. Despite this late-career resurgence, he struggled to command a spot in the senior side during his final two years and departed the club at the end of 2022 as a respected one-club veteran.
