Mykelti Lefau is a New Zealand-born forward who took an unconventional path to the AFL, transitioning from a rugby league background with the Melbourne Storm development system to Australian Rules football. After honing his craft in the VFL with Casey and Richmond, he earned a spot on the Tigers' list via the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection in 2024 as a mature-age recruit. Lefau quickly endeared himself to fans with his physicality, strong hands, and accurate finishing, showing significant promise before a ruptured ACL against Geelong abruptly ended his debut season. A powerful athlete capable of creating contests and applying defensive pressure, he has focused on re-establishing himself in the senior side following his rehabilitation from knee reconstruction.
