Recruited as a mature-age prospect from Swan Districts with pick 67 in the 2015 National Draft, Nathan Broad became a pivotal fixture in Richmond's modern dynasty. Despite a slow start where he had to earn his stripes through the VFL, Broad broke into the senior lineup late in the 2017 season and remarkably became a premiership player in just his tenth career game. He cemented his spot as a courageous and versatile defender, capable of playing tall or small and renowned for his willingness to go back with the flight of the ball.

A key member of the 2017, 2019 and 2020 premiership sides, Broad's game matured significantly over his tenure. Initially a lockdown specialist, he developed into a reliable interceptor and a calm distributor out of the back half. As the core of the premiership era retired, Broad assumed a vital leadership role, guiding a young defensive group while maintaining his status as one of the club's most consistent performers well into his thirties.
