Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers and Collingwood VFL program with pick 12 in the 2021 Mid-Season Draft, Ned Moyle joined Gold Coast as a towering ruck prospect with immediate physical presence. Standing 206cm, he developed into a dominant force at state league level, renowned for his proficient tap work and competitive follow-up efforts, but found his pathway to senior football frequently blocked by the durability and form of Suns captain Jarrod Witts. Despite strong trade interest from rival Victorian clubs seeking a ready-made starting ruckman, Moyle committed his long-term future to the Gold Coast, opting to remain as the club's designated successor to Witts. Consequently, his early career was defined by patience, serving as a high-quality deputy who stepped into the senior side primarily when injury or load management sidelined the skipper.
