Bio
A tall ruckman recruited from University High School Old Boys, Neil Evans was the younger brother of Essendon champion and future club president Ron Evans. Standing 191cm with broad shoulders, he broke into the senior side in 1967, showing promise by stringing together ten games and booting seven goals in his debut season. His 1968 campaign was derailed by persistent hamstring injuries that kept him out of the senior side for the entire home-and-away season, but he earned a shock recall for the Preliminary Final after proving his fitness in the reserves. Evans retained his spot for the Grand Final loss to Carlton—which proved to be his final game for the club—before continuing his career with West Perth in the WAFL and Sandringham in the VFA.
